We want to make it easy on you. Our integrations are free of charge and we have several different options for you to choose from. Our standard API allows you to create, read, and update Ad-ID codes and associated information using your current system, while the other, Complete External Access, simply lets you validate an existing code and pull additional details, like the title and length. Get more details below and then decide which integration will fit your needs the best.
Complete External Access
Complete External Access (CEA) provides approved companies with the ability to access Ad-IDs and related ad information. By using the CEA integration, you will be able to verify if a code is valid or not. If it is valid, you can quickly obtain the associated data for the ad.
CEA is available to all publishers who have signed the CEA agreement. Other interested companies will need to apply and be approved for access. Once approved, companies can validate Ad-ID codes they receive. If the Ad-ID is valid, they will be provided some of the associated information about the ad, like ad title, brand, length, etc. Otherwise, they will receive a notice explaining that the code is not a valid Ad-ID code.
When needed, our users can choose to exclude codes from CEA. If a user has chosen to exclude the code from CEA, our system will simply provide the approved companies the name of the parent company that the code’s prefix is registered to and confirmation that the code is a valid Ad-ID code.
For companies that do not need access to the additional details about the ad, we have a “Validation Only” CEA option which will simply confirm if the code you provide is a valid Ad-ID code and what the parent company of the prefix is.
Our intention for CEA is to simplify the data sharing process of ad distribution. Instead of manually re-keying information about the ad, companies can use CEA to systematically pull information about the ad into their systems. This will reduce the risk of human error and improve measurement capabilities in the industry.
Our Representational State Transfer application program interface (RESTful API) allows our system to connect with your existing systems. Once integrated and given the appropriate permissions, you can use the API to create Ad-ID codes through your system. The API will send the necessary data to Ad-ID to ensure both systems have the same information.
You can use the API to pull data from Ad-ID into your internal system as well. This can save you time as you will no longer have to manually enter metadata into your system.
If you work with one of our approved vendors, you can also use the API to provide them with access to individual Ad-ID codes and the associated ad information. The approved vendors are listed within the Ad-ID system so users can choose to provide them access to the associated code information at the time of code creation. When given access to the Ad-ID code, vendors can view all the associated metadata fields and choose which fields they wish to pull data from. If a company has not been granted access to a specific code, they will not be able to access any of the associated code information.
The Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP) is an ISO standard, originally created by Adobe Systems Inc. It is a file labeling technology that lets you embed metadata into files during the content creation process. With an XMP enabled application, you can capture significant information about an ad (such as the title and length) in a format that is easily understood by your team as well as by software applications. Most importantly, as team members modify files and assets, they can edit and update the metadata in real time during the workflow.
Ad‐ID and Adobe collaborated on the development of the Ad-ID Digital Ad Slate for XMP Version 1.0.
Using the Ad‐ID XMP Digital Slate will enable you to do the following:
- Improve cross-platform capability by allowing media to more easily identify which ad should run on which platforms (e.g., radio, print, online, mobile)
- Automatically embed an ad asset’s identifying information directly into the asset, eliminating the need for manual re-entry
- Simplify the advertising workflow by using a consistent digital standard that all platforms recognize
MediaInfo, developed by MediaArea, is a open-source program that displays technical information about media files, as well as tag information for audio and video files. Using this program, you can display a specific Ad-ID code and the associated metadata and export the data as XML.
The MOV MetaEdit tool, supported by the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP) File Deliverable Specification, works in conjunction with MediaInfo and allows you to embed and edit the UniversalAdId (Ad-ID in the US) in a MOV (Apple QuickTime) or MP4 file.
